After reading the story The Little Red Hen, we decided we would try bake some bread just like the hen did. We went to the kitchen with all our ingredients. We helped teacher measure the ingredients and we all took a turn mixing the dough. We put it in the oven and waited until it was finished baking.
Before we went home, we tasted our brown bread with some butter and jam. It was DELICIOUS!

We looked at work done by Don Conroy. We followed his step-by-step instructions to draw a cat. The drawings were fantastic! Here are a few of our drawings.
Last week we designed flower pots for our 'grass-heads'. This week we planted the grass in each pot. We have to remember to water them every day.
After reading the book Jack and the Beanstalk, we designed our own beanstalks. Here are some pictures of us hard at work!
We went to look at the school garden last week with our friends in Room 4. We hope to plant some broad beans in the school garden very soon!
They boys and girls were learning about Pablo Picasso this week. We looked at 'the rose period' when Picasso used one main colour in many different shades to create a painting.
Just like Picasso, we used black and white paint to mix with another colour to make darker and lighter shades. We then painted a pictures using light and dark shades of one colour. Here are some pictures of the boys and girls busy at work and the finished product! We read the book 'A Squash and a Squeeze'. The children took turns taking on the roles of the different characters and acted out the story.
We have been discussing winter and looking at the weather patterns in January. We were very excited when we got to put 'snow' on our weather chart!
We designed hats, scarves, mittens and boots to remind us that we must wear them when it is cold outside. We also drew some winter scenes in art! |
